Tara McCray is a postdoc in the department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. Tara received her B.S. in Biology from University of North Carolina-Greensboro and her PhD in Pathology from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She is interested in the cellular crosstalk between epithelium and stroma that regulates tissue regeneration. To mimic these intercellular signaling networks, Tara is engineering a hepatocyte organoid coculture that incorporates endothelial and stromal support. She plans to use single cell transcriptomics to interrogate organoids and artificial liver grafts to develop a single cell atlas of regenerating human liver.
